Prefects

Student Prefects

Student leadership at KBI College is built around a prefect system designed to give students meaningful opportunities to serve, lead and take responsibility within the school community.

Prefects are expected to model the school's values of discipline, responsibility, humility, integrity and excellence while supporting staff and encouraging their fellow students.

Developing Responsible Student Leaders

Being a prefect at KBI is more than wearing a badge. It is an opportunity to develop leadership, communication, organisation and service skills. Prefects work under the guidance of school staff and are expected to exercise authority responsibly, respectfully and fairly.

  • Lead by Example
Maintain good conduct, punctuality, appearance, respect and commitment to school responsibilities.
  • Support Staff
Assist teachers and school administrators with approved activities and help communicate appropriate instructions to students.
  • Serve Students
Listen respectfully to fellow students and help create a school environment where students feel supported and encouraged to participate positively.
  • Promote Discipline
Encourage students to follow school rules and report serious concerns to the appropriate member of staff rather than attempting to impose punishment.
  • Protect School Values
Demonstrate the values of excellence, integrity, discipline, humility, innovation and community.
  • Work as a Team
Cooperate with other prefects and school staff to support assemblies, events, academic activities, sporting activities and other approved programmes.

Selection & Tenure

Prefect selection at KBI College is based on a combination of academic standing, conduct and demonstrated leadership ability. Students selected for prefectship are expected to uphold the standards of the school throughout their tenure.

Prefects serve for one academic session and operate under the supervision and direction of the school's leadership and designated staff members.
